Hunter Academy of Sport netballers competed at the inaugural Greater Bank Academy Challenge held by the Western Region Academy of Sport at Orange in October.

Western Regional Academy of Sport (WRAS) partnered with Netball NSW and the Regional Academies of Sport network to host the tournament, bringing together 22 teams and up to 300 pre-elite netballers from across regional NSW.

The Hunter Academy of Sport’s second side won their division, highlighting strong talent against tough competition throughout the three-day competition.

The HAS umpires were also on display, with Ella Taylor earning her National B Badge and Sophie Webster her National C Badge.

Netball NSW regional development and pathways unit manager, Mardi Aplin said the event would not be possible without the support from Netball NSW’s umpire and coach mentors – Chris Hall, Bron Adams, Emma Corefield, Anita Keelan, Maria Lunch, Lenore Blades and Abby McCulloch.
