A group of 17 triathletes from the Hunter Academy of Sport (HAS) and Central Coast Academy of Sport (CCAS) attended a high performance training camp at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation at Narrabeen over the weekend.

The athletes were placed in mixed teams and faced against each other in challenges.

Three sessions focussed on open water skills, drafting, sighting, dolphin dives and time trials. The athletes made use of the range of facilities, including the athletics track, indoor heated pool and the 5km track around Narrabeen Lake.

The 17 athletes also took part in a functional movement screening and a gym session held by Innovate Strength & Conditioning.

The camp was included as part of the HAS and CCAS 2018/19 triathlon programs, which work closely with Triathlon NSW in developing and progressing these young athletes in their pathway to success.

In HAS golf news, Harry Cleare has won his first Jack Newton Junior Golf Masters event over the weekend on the South Coast, meaning he now qualifies for 2018 Bonville Cup – a prestigious event in the junior golfing calendar.

Harry was closely followed by fellow HAS golfer Josh Robbards, who came runner up to Harry and won his age group.
