The Hunter Academy of Sport has had a big week of success with numerous athletes across their programs gaining selection in state and national representative teams for their respected sports.

Softball Australia announced the 2018 Australian U17 Boys’ Squad this week, with Hunter Academy of Sport softballers Joshua Banks and Ben Cashen selected to represent. The boys will be attending the 2018 International Friendship Series training camp and competition, to be held at Redlands Softball Association in Queensland. The camp will be held from 6-8 July and competition from 9-13 July.

Alongside Banks and Cashen, Hunter Academy of Sport female Softballer Grace Wrixon gained selection in the Australian U19 Female Development Squad, and will be attending the 2018 International Friendship Series Camp. The Development Squad will have the opportunity to attend an international tour to Japan, specifically designed to provide international exposure to up-and-coming players.

In Basketball, Hunter Academy females Lara Kitchen, Mariah Radburn and males Will Mortimore and Jeremy Kennedy have gained selection in the Basketball NSW 2018 Talented Athlete Program (TAP) camp at the Sydney Academy of Sport and Recreation Centre in May. The TAP is a single camp-based program that aims to expose selected athletes to the NSW/Australian Style of Play whilst providing educational opportunities for athletes in the field of nutrition, injury prevention and effective rehabilitation exercises.
