Hunter Softballer Set to Strike Green and Gold

Former Hunter Academy of Sport (HAS) Softballer Grace Wrixon is currently preparing for one of the biggest milestones in her young sporting career, set to jet off to Canada on Thursday, 16th June as part of the 2022 Aussie Spirit Development Team for the 2022 Canada Cup.

Former Hunter Academy of Sport (HAS) Softballer Grace Wrixon is currently preparing for one of the biggest milestones in her young sporting career, set to jet off to Canada on Thursday, 16th June as part of the 2022 Aussie Spirit Development Team for the 2022 Canada Cup.

 

Wrixon, member of HAS from 2016-2019, is amongst seventeen athletes in the Development team who will be making the trip from Australia to play against some of the worlds best from June 20th-26th in Surrey, British Columbia.

 

The Development team play a key role in the Softball Australia high performance pathway, exposing athletes to international travel and elite-level competition assisting in the transition from junior representation to international competition.

 

Wrixon was named the HAS 2019 Outstanding Female in a Team Sport and 2018 Best and Fairest award winner, as well as being selected in Under 17, Under 18 and Under 19 State and National squads over the past few years, travelling both inter-state and overseas for tournaments.

 

“Being selected to represent Australia again is an amazing opportunity to play against some of the best players in the world. I haven’t been exposed at this open international level before and I am so excited for the challenge,” Wrixon commented.

 

“It’s a great feeling to know I have so much support back home because without that support, I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today.”

 

The team at HAS would like to wish the best of luck to Grace and the Aussie Spirit team in the 2022 Canada Cup.
