School Sports Awards
The Hunter Academy of Sport has been conducting the School Sports Awards for over a decade and believes that it is very important to recognise the achievements of young people in our schools and encourage principals and school staff to nominate youngsters from their schools throughout the year.
These awards have become prestigious and are regarded highly in both the school and sporting communities and are proudly supported by Lake Macquarie.
Who can Apply?
All primary and secondary schools in all school systems may apply (on behalf of their students who gain successes on the sporting field).

Jnr Girls (Primary School)
Jnr Boys (Primary School)
Snr Girls (Secondary School)
Snr Boys (Secondary School)
Team (all school ages)
Time Period
The awards are offered throughout the year from March to October.
What do students win?
Monthly winners will receive a medal. All monthly winners will be eligible to win the annual scholarship for their category which will be formally announced in November.
Eligibility:
To qualify for a school sports award a male/female or team must have:
a) Represented his/her/their school, zone or region with distinction in accredited inter-school competition(s) in his/her/their selected sport(s)
b) Demonstrated high levels of leadership, dedication and sportsmanship whilst participating in school sporting activities
c) Shown good school spirit – a general willingness to participate in and support school sporting activities
d) Demonstrated appropriate behaviour at all times both on and off the sporting field
e) Been considered to be a good school member/members with respect to co-operation generally, and to maintaining acceptable levels of academic progress
How to nominate
Please complete the School Sports Awards Nomination Form and return it to the Hunter Academy of Sport Office prior to the 7th of each month. All nominations received during the year will be reviewed monthly on a continuing basis.
