Success for golfers, bowlers and softball players

The 2019 Golf NSW Zone 2 Regional Championships were held at Newcastle Golf Club at the weekend - a 36 hole strokeplay event and a couple of team events.

The Newcastle District Gold Association (NDGA) continued its dominance of the junior division - with HAS golfer Brij Ingrey having 79, 74 for 153 to win the regional junior champion title from NDGA's and past HAS golfer Jake Riley also with 153.

Other notable performances from the NDGA Squad came from past HAS athlete Jacob Dundas winning the best Scratch score on the 2nd day with 73.

In Lawn Bowls, Blair Soars, Caleb McDermott and Jake Reid placed Silver in fours and Brendan Stokes and Connor Freeman also won silver in pairs at the 2019 NSW Junior Inter-Zone Championships in Dubbo.

A number of softballers have been picked in NSW teams for 2020. Grace Wrixon, Alyssa Charter-Smith, Josh Banks and Michael Owen were selected in the under-18's , and Sienna Burgess, Mayke Telfer and Jackson Newcombe in U/16's.
