The Hunter Academy of Sport has officially kicked off its 2019/20 season, opening nominations for 7 of their elite development programs for athletes from the Hunter Region.

The Hunter Academy of Sport is one of eleven sport academies assisting talented junior athletes from regional areas of NSW. The Academy is charged with three major objectives: to identify regional talent; to educate and develop youth in the region and to provide opportunity.

Vital partnerships with the NSW Office of Sport, Your local club and many State and National Sporting Organisations ensure the regional academy system is strong and relevant, while locally these programs provide regional based youth with the support and guidance they need to simply become better members of their community both now and into the future.

In 2018, more than 500 talented young sportspeople completed in HAS programs.

Nominations for the 2019/20 Cycling, Hockey, Basketball, Lawn Bowls, Golf and Softball programs opened on Friday 9th August, with interest flooding in from athletes across many of the Hunter’s LGA’s.

To nominate for the above programs, or to find out more information on the other programs available please visit the tabs on our website.
