Softball representatives play in Softball NSW Academy tournament

Hunter Academy of Sport girls and boys softball squad members travelled to Blacktown International Sports Complex to compete in Softball NSW's Academy tournament last week.

Players represented the Hunter region across the two-day event, playing against their counterparts from the Northern Metropolitan, Southern Metropolitan, South West Sydney, Western Sydney Academies of Sport. 

The squads were also lucky enough to be joined by representatives from America and New Zealand colleges, who shared their expertise and skills.

Hunter Academy boys athletes Michael Owen, Hayden Moore, Mayke Telfer, Jackson Newcombe and Joshua Banks were part of the winning team for the boy's tournament. Hayden Moore pitched the closing innings and Jackson Newcombe scored the winning run.

Meanwhile, the following HAS athletes are currently trialling for the Softball NSW state teams: U/16, Abbey Powell, Sienna Burgess, Mayke Telfer and Jackson Newcombe; U18, Michael Owen, Hayden Moore, Olivia Moore, Emily Gordon, Alyssa Charter-Smith, Grace Wrixon and Josh Banks.

Meanwhile, the following HAS athletes are currently trialling for the Softball NSW state teams: U/16, Abbey Powell, Sienna Burgess, Mayke Telfer and Jackson Newcombe; U18, Michael Owen, Hayden Moore, Olivia Moore, Emily Gordon, Alyssa Charter-Smith, Grace Wrixon and Josh Banks.
