Triathletes make it onto the podium in range of competitions

It has been a big week for Hunter Academy of Sport athletes with triumphs and selections in state-wide tournaments across two of their elite programs.

The Hunter Academy of Sport triathletes were busy competing in the 27th annual Sparke Helmore Newcastle City Triathlon and the NSW All Schools Triathlon Championships at the Sydney International Regatta Centre in Penrith.

Junior HAS athlete Cooper Lee came second in the enticer, Sienna Kinder placed first in the 13-15 years female enticer and Rohan Barnes (1st), William Passlow (2nd) and Jett Campbell (3rd) in the male 13-15 years enticer age group.

At the NSW All Schools race, triathlete Emily Fortunaso-Klocker finished second overall in the intermediate age group followed by Monty Dixon who came ninth and first in the Catholic Schools division. Charlee Jones finished third in the Catholic schools, and Rohan Barnes eighth in the junior boys and fourth in his schools category.

Emily Fortunaso-Klocker was named in the NSW team to compete at the National All Schools Championships later this year. 

In Basketball, current HAS athlete Hannah Nimmo has been selected alongside past athletes Isabella Belavic, Ashley & Kelsey Crosson, Isabella Jennings and Mariah Radburn in the Basketball NSW under 16 NSW Country Women’s squad. The young atheltes will travel to Darwin in July to represent NSW at the 2019 Under 16 Australian Junior Championships.

HAS Basketball coaches Trevor Gallacher and Chloe Mulloney have also been named as coaching staff.
