2011 Hunter Region School Sports Award Winners

TEAM CATEGORY

New Lambton Primary School – Girls K.O. Netball Team

This team has participated with dedication and distinction to achieve with honor as the State Winners of the Knock Out Netball Competition which included over 600 teams in the State Competition.

PRIMARY SCHOOL GIRLS

Cassidy McLean

Cassidy excels at her chosen sport of Basketball representing her school, Diocese and Polding and was selected for NSW All Primary Schools.  Cassidy has represented her school in Athletics, Swimming, Cross Country and Netball.  She is an excellent student achieving in all academic areas.  Cassidy is always helpful and willing in her role as a school leader.

PRIMARY SCHOOL BOYS

Cooper Jenkins

In 2011 Cooper has represented the school in Swimming, Cross Country, Basketball, Football, Hockey and Athletics.  At the recent Australian Track and Field Championships in Darwin Cooper finished with bronze medal in the 10 years 200m race and a silver medal in the relay.  At the Combined Independent School Athletics Championships he finished will two gold medals and a fifth place.  Cooper is a conscientious student that participates in all school based activities and is a great class member.

SECONDARY SCHOOL GIRLS

Rachel Jones

Rachel won the gold medal at the 2011 Nationals Champbike Series for the second year in a row.  She was then selected into the BMX Australia’s National Talent Identification Team.  At the National BMX Championships in Cairns she won the silver medal and was a member of the BMX NSW State Team for Nationals.

SECONDARY SCHOOL BOYS

Luke Remington

Luke is represented Australia at the U/17 Football World Cup in Mexico earlier this year.  Luke scored an equalizing goal in the last minute of normal time of Australia’s last group match against Denmark to help the team qualify for the next round of the World Cup.
