The Hunter Academy of Sport Honour Roll is designed to acknowledge outstanding former Hunter Academy of Sport squad members. Generally the inductees will have had outstanding International careers at open levels in their selected sport. High standards will be maintained and so minimise the total number of inductees.
ALISON BROADBENT - Netball
Alison played 35 tests for Australia, and was a member of the national team at two Commonwealth Games tournaments winning gold in 2002 and silver in 2006.
She also played 152 games for the Sydney Swifts in the National Netball League winning three championships.
HEATH FRANCIS -Track and Field – Athlete with a Disability
At the time of induction into the Hunter Academy of Sport Honour Roll (July 2008) Heath has accomplished the following list of successes at the Paralympics Games in Track (Athletics) Events
2000 Sydney Games
Won Gold in the 400m Individual Event, the 4 x 100m Relay and 4 x 400m Relay
Won Silver in the 200m Individual Event
2004 Athens Games
Won Silver in the 100m and 400m Individual Events and in the 4 x 400m Relay and won Bronze in the 4 x 100m Relay
OLIVIA GOLLAN-Road Cycling
Has represented Australia in Road Cycling at the 2004 Olympic Games and 2006 Commonwealth Games as well as at World Championships from 2001 to 2007 inclusive.
BROOKE MORRISON -Hockey
Played 79 games for the Australian Women’s Hockey Team (the Hockeyroos).
When Brooke was representing at the Champions Trophy International Competition, Australia won gold in 1999 and silver in 2000.
At the Commonwealth Games Brooke was a part of the Australian bronze medal team in 2002.
NATHAN OUTTERIDGE-Sailing
At the time of induction into the Hunter Academy of Sport Honour Roll (July 2008), Nathan as a Junior won three consecutive World 29er Class Championships.
Finished third in the 2007 World 49er Championships, so qualifying to represent Australia at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing
STEVE SIMPSON-Rugby League
At the time of induction into the Hunter Academy of Sport Honour Roll (July 2008), Steve has represented Australia in seven Test Matches, New South Wales in thirteen State of Origin Matches, New South Wales Country in three matches and has made almost 200 First Grade appearances for the Newcastle Knights.
